Is Starlink available in Vietnam yet?

Current status

Not officially operational, but has been granted a pilot license. According to the latest information:

• In March 2025, the Prime Minister signed decision 659 allowing Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) to pilot the provision of Starlink satellite internet services in Vietnam for a period of 5 years.
• SpaceX is in the process of completing the necessary procedures and infrastructure as required by Vietnam to officially launch the service.
• Cục Viễn thông (Bộ KH&CN) cho biết đang phối hợp với SpaceX để hoàn thiện thủ tục, cơ sở hạ tầng trước khi dịch vụ chính thức ra mắt.

Current coverage area

Hiện tại, Starlink chưa chính thức phủ sóng tại Việt Nam. Việt Nam đang nằm trong khu vực “Sắp ra mắt” (Coming Soon).

Expected coverage area

Upon official deployment, Starlink will target the following areas:

1. Remote areas, border regions: Weak telecommunications infrastructure, unstable 3G/4G/5G signal.

2. Islands, offshore: Ensure connectivity for maritime activities.

3. Northern mountainous region: Complex terrain, difficult to deploy traditional networks.

Vietnam's mobile network covers 99.8% of the population but only 58% of the territory. Starlink can fill the remaining gap.
